Baby’s done a bad bad green.

Unless we change the direction we are heading, we might end up where we are going- Chinese proverb.

Wow! Am I going the direction I want to go-or the direction I am headed in?

Photography by nature has not always been the most environmentally friendly endeavor. However, the world of creativity holds enormous possibilities. I am currently re-appreciating vintage lenses, used computer equipment, and retro furniture-otherwise destined for the shelves of obscurity (or the junkyard). Because nothing else says start your day kicking and screaming (in a enthusiastic way!) like a 50 year old Konika camera, a 40 year old drafting chair, a 30 year old nikkor lens, a 20 year old Lincoln mark IV (Diesel engine anyone?) and a steaming cup of joe brewed in a coffee maker purchased at a garage sale for $2. Sorry Folks. All this really cool ‘new’ stuff costs waaaay to much ‘green’.  If  I stop to add the before tax wages I have to earn in order to pay the credit card interest I still owe-well  I’d never get my head up off of the table. Please, just gimme the all that old stuff that grandpa had. It’s still functioning. I know because I used his router today.  To make handcrafted frames. Out of  wood that’s been reclaimed. From vintage dressers that were thrown away. What direction are you headed in lately? Is this the place you mean to go? Inquiring minds want to know. ..

The ‘Back 40′…

‘Back 40′: noun referring to wild or rough terrain adjacent to a developed area.

Welcome to my newest project.

There are approx 40 weeks left in 2009.  My mission (and yours)  should you choose to accept it- post one new image  every Monday.  Identify photos by number only. Begin counting down from forty.  Don’t choose a particular subject, add text, or tell a  story. Just create something with your camera.  And post it before midnight. This message will self destruct after 39 seconds…
